Single Tank Series, Harvey’s HawkIBA, To Benefit AZK9 Rescue

Four Peaks Brewing Co. is tapping a new Single Tank Series, and this one has heart!

Drew and Harvey
Love at first sight!

Harvey’s HawkIBA is coming your way Friday, October 28!  Harvey’s HawkIBA has a malty backbone with huge hop flavor and aroma with a Citra and Simcoe hop base to add a citrus aroma. It will be available at the original Four Peaks in Tempe, Four Peaks Grill & Tap in Scottsdale, and Four Peaks Tasting Room on Wilson. It will also be featured at this year’s Four Peaks Fall Festival.

A Beer with a purpose

This India Brown Ale was brewed with a particular purpose. This beer is named after one of our Brewers, Drew’s dog, Harvey. Harvey is a special little guy.  Harvey was rescued just two years ago at our Local Fest at Wilson Street.

Harvey (then called Hawkeye) is missing an eye, but that never slowed him down. Jessie Kinneer, a member of our HR team, was volunteering with AZK9 Rescue and brought Hawkeye to the Four Peaks Local Fest as a part of the organization’s Amazing Rescue Race.

Harvey's HawkIBA

I was volunteering with the rescue taking part in their event called the Amazing Rescue Race, ” Jessie tells me as she recalls Harvey’s meeting Drew and Drea, Drew’s wife. “This event is where a volunteer is partnered with one adoptable dog and they are given new tasks each week to complete with their dog in order to get them out of the rescue house and gain exposure in order to hopefully find their forever home.” Jessie continues, “Hawkeye was my partner that year (2015) and found Drew during one of our outings as part of this challenge. Hawkeye is a lab/shar-pei mix dog that the rescue saved from [a] county [shelter] because he had an enlarged eye and was going to be euthanized because [the] county doesn’t have the funds to help medically needy animals.”

fullsizerender-2Drew’s parents fell in love with Harvey at first sight that sunny afternoon at the Four Peaks Fall Festival, and Drew and his wife got the paperwork rolling immediately.

A portion of the proceeds from this beer will go back to AZK9 Rescue. Four Peaks hopes this tribute beer reminds us how critical rescues are to these animals and the people who give them fur-ever homes.

Four Peaks Brews a Wet Hopped IPA, Wet Knot, for First Time in 20 Year History [Video]

On Friday, September 30, Four Peaks Brewing Co. tapped their FIRST EVER wet hopped beer, Wet Knot! With more than 200 years of brewing experience combined, are so proud to offer this brew up to friends and family who visit the Four Peaks pubs in Tempe and Scottsdale.

The 400 pounds of fresh hops used in this beer were picked from the vine then shipped off at 8 am on a Friday and into the beer the very next day! Wet hops need to be used within 24 hours of picking for the ideal flavor and quality.

This version uses the Hop Knot malt base, and its floral nose is the essence of pure citrus from the Cascade hops added at different stages of the brewing process. Wet Knot is a truly unique beer, and the gang is looking forward to it being a favorite of yours!

Due to its limited yield, Wet Knot will only be available at the original Four Peaks in Tempe, Four Peaks Grill and Tap in Scottsdale, and Four Peaks Tasting Room on Wilson Street. This beer is a one-time brew, so I recommend stopping by one of the pubs to try it before it’s gone!

Have you tried Wet Knot? Tell us about it! Check it in when you check it out on Untappd!

Four Peaks Brewing Company to Release Winter Seasonal, Odelay Mexican Chocolate Brown Ale

Odelay Logo FINAL

TEMPE, Ariz. – This December, Four Peaks Brewing Company celebrates the 3rd release of its Winter Seasonal, Odelay Mexican Chocolate Brown Ale, to the Arizona market. This spicy, chocolate brown ale will be available at the original Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe, Four Peaks Grill & Tap in Scottsdale, the Four Peaks Tasting Room on Wilson St., Four Peaks Sky Harbor Airport and for state-wide retail distribution through Hensley Beverage Company beginning mid-December.

Four Peaks spent several years searching for a Winter Seasonal beer that can truly reflect the influences of the Hispanic foods loved by Arizonans. As Winter moves in and temperatures drop, Brewer and Founding Partner, Andy Ingram sought out a recipe that tasted like champurrado, a Mexican hot chocolate, but would translate well to beer. Traditional champurrado is more than just chocolate; it’s often accompanied by cinnamon, allspice, cayenne and masa harina. Four Peaks used this as inspiration then de-constructed it by using organic cocoa powder, cinnamon, allspice and a few pounds of pasilla chilies. The maltiness from the barley is a natural substitute for masa harina. Odelay weighs in at about 7.0% ABV and 15 IBUs.

“We weren’t quite sure what to expect when we set out to brew this recipe – some cross between Mexican hot chocolate and a molé negro. However, meticulous R&D led us to this chocolaty, spiced beer that we think craft beer fans will love. And though it’s not hot, we think its warming nature will fight off the chill of an Arizona Winter night,” says Ingram.

Four Peaks Brewing Company has been an active member of the Tempe, Arizona community since 1996. It is the third largest brewery in the United States among those only distributing in their home states. Four Peaks Brewing Company has won state, national and global recognition including 2012 World Beer Cup gold medals for SunBru Kolsch and Hop Knot IPA, 2013 GABF medals for Hop Knot IPA and Kilt Lifter Scottish Ale and 2015 AmeriCan Canned Beer Festival medals for Arizona Peach Ale and 8th Street Pale Ale. The Travel Channel has recently named Four Peaks America’s Favorite Craft Brewery.

Four Peaks Adds Core Beer Lineup for First Time in Six Years

White_Ale_Bartop_2015This August, Four Peaks Brewing Company changes their mainstay beer lineup and adds Four Peaks White Ale, a Belgian inspired witbier, to their core beer selection statewide. Four Peaks’ mainstay lineup had not changed since the introduction of Sunbru Kolsch Style Ale nearly six years ago. And holy cow, are we excited!

White Ale joined the core beer menu at the original Four Peaks in Tempe and Four Peaks Grill and Tap in Scottsdale on July 9. In a nod to local culture, White Ale boasts of locally sourced citrus from Greenfield Citrus and Arizona-grown Sonoran White Wheat, un-malted wheat from Hayden Flour Mills. Together with coriander and the brewery’s proprietary yeast, this is Four Peaks’ twist on a true classic. White Ale weighs in at 5.4% ABV and 10 IBUs.

“The malt forward profile with notes of orange and coriander make this an approachable beer for craft beer fans across the board,” says Melissa Osborne, Brewer and creator of the White Ale recipe. White_Ale-5

White Ale will be available for year-round distribution through Hensley Beverage Company in Arizona with the possibility of packaging in the future. White Ale is available on draft at the original Four Peaks Brewery in Tempe, AZ and Four Peaks Grill & Tap in Scottsdale, AZ.

With the introduction of this Belgian-style witbier, Four Peaks Hefeweizen will make the occasional resurgence within the brewery’s Single Tank Series. The Single Tank Series is a program that releases a variety of specialty ales and lagers throughout the year, one 40 BBL batch at a time, in-house.
